Dear Little One

As your Mama, I will hold you in my arms, making sure you’re warm and nurtured. I will read to you all your favorite stories and make new adventures happen for us. We’ll make apple pie together, peeling the apples, rolling the crust, and filling our kitchen with wonderful scent of cinnamon and cloves.

As you grow, you and I will pick out you first-day-of-school outfit. I’ll be waiting for you that afternoon, with a smiley-face balloon in-hand, ready to hear all the tales of your day. When you’re grappling with homework, I’ll be there to tackle the challenges (except, of course, mathematics, which is where your Dad comes in.)

In your own bedroom, I want you to feel oh-so-comfortable in your bed, sleeping soundly (with maybe a cat or two purring away at your feet). I’ve prepared a special place for you at our family’s table, where you’ll enjoy homemade meals and treats. Your Dad and I will laugh with you in times of happiness, comfort you in times of grief, and encourage you always.

Love, Mom

As your Daddy, I will love and cherish you every day. I will strive to keep our whole family protected spiritually, financially, and from all the dangers in the world. I look froward to showing you the beautiful world of the stage, and I will make sure to encourage you to build upon your wonderful God-given talents.

I look forward to all of our family trips that I’ve dreamt about, showing you all of this wonderful country. I hope you know that God has a plan for you, and your Mama and Daddy are looking forward to celebrating all your victories and helping to build you up when you falter.

I look forward to worshipping, praying, and praising God as a family. I look forward to building new family traditions during the holiday, and I know that both of our families, are so excited to get to know and love you . I praise God for this opportunity to become a father, and I will try my best to support you in any way that I can. While I may fail at times, I hope to learn from my mistakes, and I plan to encourage a culture of communication and honesty.

Love, Dad
